1990 Range Rover 4.6 conversion
This Range Rover was purchased at a good price with a bad engine. The owner
chose to install an ECR4.6 Rover V8 in place to the 3.9. Here the old 3.9
is being removed and the engine bay readied for the 4.6.
This is the new 4.6 engine being set up for install into the Rover. Some
shops will tell you that you can't install a 4.6 where a 3.5 or 3.9 used
to be due to changes to the block and belts, but as you can see we do it
all the time. Here is a new generation cross bolted 4.6 engine mated to
the 3.9 timing cover and belt system. Seeing it, is believing it.
This is the completed ECR4.6 engine bay in the Range Rover, no drastic changes,
and it all looks stock, but this Rover now has on tap power and torque that
blows away a 3.9 or 4.0! The install is also a long term one, unlike bolt
on that claim added power, this is 100,000 mile plus performance that won't
give you any trouble. The ECR4.6 in this Rover was $6000., that is for a
brand new engine, not rebuilt, and not a bolt on!
This is the completed project. With a new 4.6 and a general service of the
Rover this Range Rover is ready for the highway, and you can bet this Range
Rover won't be slowing down on any hills!
