TRANSFER CASES:




This 1995 NAS D90 came to us with a drivetrain noise. After closer inspection we found that it had major transfer case problems.

Does your transfer case look like this!!! Yikes. As you can see it is totally shot. This D90 had a small output seal leak that allowed all the transfer case fluid to leak out, ending in a complete transfer case failure. This D90 will now be getting a new transfer case installed here at ECR. If your Rover has the same sort of problem, we have you covered. See the transfer case information below.

LT-230 Transfer case
The transfer case found in the early U.S. Range Rovers and other Rovers. Identified by the (L-N-H shifter with selectable diff. lock). This gear drive unit is fully rebuilt and comes with a full warranty, ready to install and take care of all your transfer case problems in one job. It even is upgraded to prevent leaks.
All our LT230s going into automatic transmission Rovers require the updated output shaft. This is supplied with the transfer box at no extra cost.

GEARBOXES: AUTOMATIC



ZF 4HP22 4 speed automatic
The common automatic found in Rovers (good for conversions on Defenders too). All are rig tested and carry a 12 month parts warranty. Each comes complete with a rebuilt torque converter.

We offer the V8 EFI versions and the turbo diesel versions so that we can set up your Defender exactly the way it should be.

GEARBOXES: MANUAL


A quick way to tell if you have an LT77 or an R380 is to look for where your reverse gear is located on your shifter knob. If to get the gearbox in reverse you shift towards the left and up, then you have an LT77. If you need to shift towards the right and down, then you have the R380 version. The LT77 can be removed and the R380 installed in its place, but a few conversion parts are needed, the 2 gearboxes do not directly interchange. If you want to upgrade to an R380 be sure to mention this when setting up your work orders so we can make sure you get all the needed bits.

LT-77 5 speed
These 5 speeds, found in the early Defender 90s and Discoveries, but good for lots of uses, are fully rebuilt and carry a 6 month parts warranty. These units are ready to replace your damaged unit or ready to go into your project Rover. Sold as a replacement part, so if you are doing a project build up and need a bell housing or other parts call us for prices.

LT-77s 5 speed
Same as above but the tougher turbo diesel version

R-380 5 speed
Rebuilt and warranted as above, these are the newer version of the 5 speed in the Discovery and the Defender. Great as a replacement component or in a project. We use them all the time behind everything from 275 HP V8 to stock 2.25 4 cylinders, and have had nothing but great luck with them. Sold without bell housing, ready for expert install here at ECR.
