MANXTER #2 Restoration
As much as we tried to "repair and upgrade" this Manxter it kept letting the owner down due to the poor build quality of the original build up. So the answer is to tear it apart and build it over again, the right way... the ECR way. Below you will see a small photo essay of that process. Enjoy.
Pan blasted back to white metal and all rust repaired
Rebuilt T2 transaxle with CNC hydraulic clutch
Body buffed to look like new
All stainless steel pipes and hardware
Out with the high compression engine with the 4 bbl carb and in with a nice mild 1776 with a Weber 2 bbl and electric choke
Pan has truck bed-liner applied on both sides for rust resistance
Built up engine
New tires, and stainless steel exhaust being installed
All new wiring with epoxy lined connectors at each terminal
Seat re-done in vinyl and fitted with easy on/off washable beach towel style covers.
Restored to better than new, loaded up and on the way back to Nantucket for fun in the sun.
