Minor Accident Repair
This Defender 90 Wagon has come to us from PA for some minor accident repairs. This 90 was at ECR last summer for some mechanical repairs and since then has been doing great, except for having a run-in with a fence. Thats the bad news. The good news is that we can repair the 90 and get it back into top shape and ready for the owner to enjoy again.
The 90 has some scrapes down the driver's side, some minor sill damage and some other scrapes, but for going through a fence the 90 really stood up well and only suffers minor damage with no heavy damage at all.
The worst spot is the rear panel that got damaged pretty good. The lamps are damaged and the panel was ripped and pushed in some. We will remove all the lamps and broken plinths and then get to work repairing the damage.
Here you can see the repair nearly done. A little more work and the area will be ready for primer and paint in the correct AA Yellow. As you can see our repair is all metal. There is no body filler used here. We use the correct metal forming techniques in order to make the panel the correct shape again.
This image shows the paint work completed by our in house paint department. The lamps and parts are now going back on and the repair will be very hard to spot, even for a professional. While we are working in this area we will also upgrade the rear lamps to LED units for long term trouble free use and re-powder coat the rear step to clear some accident damage.
Here you can see the driver's side of the 90 looking much better with almost no trace of the accident damage.
While the 90 is here at ECR it will be getting a number of upgrades along with the repairs. One such upgrade is a new ECR ROX soft top. These tops seal better and are made from better materials than the factory vinyl tops. Our revisions to the gutter kit design make the tops seal even better than other popular soft tops. The huge difference in ECR ROX tops is that they are custom made right here at ECR, so fit and finish is always perfect. They are never too tight, never have zipper problems and are never hard to install. Once the top is complete we will turn our attention to the customer's desired upgrades, like the upgrades to the sound system and more.
